Glitter Sizes/Types

There are many different types and sizes of glitter. I will describe them here to possibly help in your selection of the best glitter for you!

Sizes:

Microfine - .004" - Can be used for just about any application
Ultra Fine/Extra Fine- .008" - Also can be used for anything, a favorite for nails, artists, tumblers, and crafters. This is what you find at Michael's & Hobby Lobby. Difficult to distinguish between ultra and extra fine.
Fine - .015" - .040" - This is a popular size used for arts & crafts, party decorations, posters, school projects, and as a mixative for chunky glitter.
Medium - .062" - This is usually used for theatre props, costumes, and as a chunky glitter mixative.
Large - .125" - For large scale coverage, such as parades, floats, business advertising, street signs, and as a chunky mixative.
Extra Large -.25" - Usually used as confetti and can be a mixative for chunky glitter

Types:

First, I have to state that these glitters are all polyester, which is a bit more expensive than your regular craft glitter, but well worth it! Does well with epoxy, adhesives, nail polish, etc.

Opaque - It is a solid glitter, you cannot see through it. Very sparkly!
Translucent - This is glitter you can see through or transparent. It is more muted tone, bordering on matte, but still has lots of sparkle.
Matte - Glitter has a beautiful shine and color, but very little to no sparkle.
Iridescent/Opalescent - Semi-transparent/translucent, but sparkles with a rainbow of colors, like an oil slick or an opal.
Holographic - Opaque sparkling glitter. Reflective change of colors using two or more. ie., change from yellow to green or have a rainbow effect.
Neon/Fluorescent - This is similar to matte in that it has beautiful shine and color, but little to no sparkle with neon coloration.
Chunky Mix - Can be any combination of glitters. The best sparkle out of all types.
Color Shift - A glitter that changes color with the movement of the glitter. Usually only contains two colors.
UV Glitter - Glitter that glows while under a black light. Can also be used to describe the glitters that change color when exposed to sunlight.
Glow in the Dark - Kinda self-explanatory.
Thermochromic Pigment - Changes color when exposed to heat. Changes back to original color when cold.

I hope this helps a little when it comes to choosing the glitter that is best for you, but if you have any other questions, please convo me. Thanks for looking!
